About JSS Polytechnic Mysore
JSS Polytechnic, Mysuru, was established in 1986 under JSS Mahavidyapeetha — a trust founded in 1954 by His Holiness Jagadguru Dr Sri Shivarathri Rajendra Mahaswamiji, under the aegis of the Suttur Mutt, a Veerashaiva institution with a history of approximately 1,000 years. JSS Mahavidyapeetha is one of India's most significant educational trusts, running institutions ranging from primary schools to medical colleges, dental colleges, engineering colleges, and universities. The polytechnic is part of the JSS Technical Institutions Campus on Dr. Shivarathri Rajendra Circle, Mysuru — a 15-acre campus shared with JSS College of Engineering (SJCE) and other JSS institutions.
JSS Polytechnic Mysore offers three-year Diploma programmes in seven disciplines: Computer Science and Engineering, Electronics and Communication Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Commercial Practice, Information Science and Engineering, Mechatronics, and Electrical Engineering. The programmes are approved by AICTE and recognised by the Government of Karnataka under DTE Karnataka. The campus library holds over 11,500 volumes. JSS Mahavidyapeetha also runs JSS Women's Polytechnic (est. 1980) and JSS Polytechnic for the Differently Abled (est. 1991-92) — the first polytechnic of its kind in India for differently-abled students, also based in Mysuru.
State Road Transport Corporation (KSRTC) buses ply through the JSS Campus at frequencies under 20 minutes, connecting all major residential areas of Mysuru, the central city bus stand, and the railway station. This campus connectivity makes JSS Polytechnic accessible to students across the city without requiring private transport. Admission is through DTE Karnataka centralised counselling based on SSLC merit. Government-aided fees apply. The placement cell maintains industry contacts for campus recruitment. Merotronics specialisation — not available at all polytechnics — positions JSS Polytechnic students for roles in industrial automation and mechatronics manufacturing units.
