Raichur — Power City on the Telangana Border
Raichur hosts the Raichur Thermal Power Station (RTPS) — Karnataka's largest coal-fired power plant at 1,720 MW capacity, operated by Karnataka Power Corporation Limited (KPCL). RTPS is one of the most significant employers of EEE and Mechanical Engineering graduates from Raichur district engineering colleges. Plant operation, turbine maintenance, electrical distribution management and instrumentation roles are consistently available at RTPS and its associated transmission infrastructure.
Raichur's position on the Karnataka-Telangana border (100 km from Hyderabad via NH-167) gives NIT graduates access to both Karnataka government employment and Telangana's large IT sector and manufacturing base. This dual-state employment market is a geographic advantage unique to border-district engineering colleges.
