About Mangalore Institute of Technology & Engineering (MITE)
Mangalore Institute of Technology and Engineering (MITE) is a private engineering college located in Moodbidri, Dakshina Kannada district, Karnataka. Approved by AICTE and affiliated to Visvesvaraya Technological University (VTU), MITE is managed by the Moodlakatte Institute of Technology Educational Trust. With an intake of 300 students, MITE is one of Moodbidri's engineering institutions, joining Alva's Institute of Engineering, Dr MV Shetty Institute of Technology and Global Institute of Engineering in making Moodbidri one of coastal Karnataka's most engineering-college-dense small towns.
KCET and COMEDK UGET are the primary admission routes.

Admission Process
KCET: Qualify KCET and participate in KEA's counselling under Dakshina Kannada district. Students from Moodbidri, Karkala, Udupi and surrounding coastal areas consider MITE alongside other Moodbidri colleges and Mangaluru cluster institutions.
COMEDK: COMEDK qualifiers apply through COMEDK's centralised process for Karnataka private engineering colleges.
Moodbidri Engineering Cluster
Moodbidri hosts four AICTE-approved private engineering colleges in a town of approximately 30,000 people — reflecting Dakshina Kannada's exceptionally strong emphasis on higher education. Students in Moodbidri can choose between Alva's (with its Nudisiri cultural legacy), Dr MV Shetty Institute, GIET and MITE based on KCET rank, programme preference and campus environment. The healthy competition between four institutions in one town drives academic standards across all of them.
Coastal Karnataka Gulf Employment Channel
Like all Dakshina Kannada engineering colleges, MITE graduates benefit from the Gulf employment channel through coastal Karnataka's established NRI diaspora. Dakshina Kannada engineers in UAE, Oman, Saudi Arabia and Kuwait construction sectors have maintained active referral networks for new graduates from the same region for decades. This Gulf employment pathway gives MITE Civil and Mechanical Engineering graduates Middle East career access that is unavailable to graduates from most other Karnataka districts.
