About Guru Nanak Dev Engineering College Bidar

Guru Nanak Dev Engineering College (GNDEC) is a private engineering college located in Bidar, Karnataka. Approved by AICTE and affiliated to Visvesvaraya Technological University (VTU), GNDEC is managed by a Sikh educational trust and named after Guru Nanak Dev Ji — the founder of Sikhism. As a minority institution, GNDEC serves students from Bidar and the broader Kalyana Karnataka region while maintaining the inclusive ethos of the Sikh tradition of education for all, regardless of faith or background.

KCET and COMEDK UGET are the primary admission routes. With an intake of 300 students, GNDEC participates in both KCET counselling and COMEDK for its BTech programmes.

KCET: Qualify KCET and participate in KEA's counselling. GNDEC is listed under Bidar district. Article 371(J) Kalyana Karnataka reservation applies. As a minority institution, GNDEC may also have minority quota provisions.

COMEDK: COMEDK qualifiers apply through COMEDK's centralised process for Karnataka private engineering colleges.

Sikh Educational Tradition — Institutional Values

Sikh educational institutions across India are known for discipline, community service (seva) and inclusive academic environments. GNDEC carries this tradition to Bidar, one of Karnataka's Kalyana Karnataka districts with a diverse religious and cultural composition. The institution's minority status and Sikh management bring a distinctive institutional culture to the Bidar engineering education landscape.

Bidar — Karnataka's Northernmost District

Bidar is Karnataka's northernmost district, sharing borders with Telangana and Maharashtra. Hyderabad is 140 km away — making Bidar the Karnataka district closest to Hyderabad. GNDEC CSE and ISE graduates have the most direct access to Hyderabad's IT sector of any Karnataka district engineering college. Bidar's own economy includes pharmaceutical manufacturing, agricultural trading and growing government investment under KRDIB. The Bidar-Hyderabad highway corridor provides regular bus and rail connectivity for graduates seeking employment in Telangana.

Career Scope

GNDEC Bidar CSE and ISE graduates access Hyderabad's IT market (140 km) through VTU placement drives and direct off-campus applications. The Hyderabad proximity is GNDEC's strongest employment advantage. Mechanical and EEE graduates target Bidar pharma manufacturing, agri-processing and GESCOM utility roles.
