Government Polytechnic Hassan is a state-run diploma-level technical institution under the Department of Collegiate and Technical Education (DCTE), Government of Karnataka, located in Hassan — the administrative headquarters of Hassan District in southern Karnataka, a junction district between Bangalore (180 km), Mangaluru (170 km), and Mysuru (120 km). The institution is approved by AICTE New Delhi and affiliated to the Board of Technical Examinations, Karnataka.
Government Polytechnic Hassan offers three-year Diploma programmes in engineering disciplines including Civil Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical and Electronics Engineering, Electronics and Communication Engineering, and Computer Science and Engineering, following the KBTE curriculum. Government diploma fees apply at approximately ₹4,270 per year — significantly more affordable than private polytechnic alternatives. Admission is through DTE Karnataka centralised counselling based on SSLC merit. SC/ST students qualify for fee reimbursement under Karnataka post-matric scholarship schemes.
