Admission Process
KCET route (Karnataka students): Appear for KCET conducted by KEA. After results, participate in KEA's online Option Entry process. SKIT is listed in KEA's college list for CSE, ECE, ME, CE and ISE branches. Karnataka domicile, CET rank and Class 12 PCM percentage determine seat allotment at SKIT through the centralised counselling process.
COMEDK route (all states): Appear for COMEDK UGET. Register at the COMEDK portal after results and participate in centralised counselling. SKIT accepts COMEDK ranks for the same branches available under KCET.
Applications and fee details are available at SKIT's official admissions office. The college also accepts management quota students as per Karnataka government regulations for private unaided engineering colleges.
Location and Connectivity
SKIT's Hesarghatta Main Road location places it within Bangalore's extended IT corridor. The area has seen significant residential and commercial development driven by Bangalore's expanding tech sector. BMTC bus connectivity is available from Rajajinagar, Yeshwantpur and Jalahalli. Students from North Bangalore localities including Chikkabanavara, Jalahalli and Peenya find SKIT conveniently accessible.
The proximity to Peenya Industrial Area — one of Asia's largest industrial estates — provides relevant industry exposure for Mechanical and Industrial Engineering students through plant visits, internship programmes and industry lectures.
Academic Programmes and VTU Curriculum
As a VTU-affiliated institution, SKIT follows the VTU Choice Based Credit System (CBCS) curriculum for all BTech programmes. VTU's engineering curriculum is regularly updated to align with industry requirements. The current VTU scheme includes mandatory internship components, mini-projects and industry interaction modules alongside core engineering subjects.
SKIT's Computer Science department has dedicated computing infrastructure including programming labs, database labs and networking labs. The curriculum covers Data Structures, Algorithms, Operating Systems, Database Management, Computer Networks and Software Engineering — subjects that form the core of both GATE examination and software industry requirements.
Placement and Career Outcomes
SKIT's Placement Cell conducts pre-placement training including aptitude, technical and soft skills preparation from the third semester onwards. IT service companies including TCS, Infosys, Wipro, Capgemini and Mphasis conduct pooled campus recruitment from VTU colleges in the Bangalore zone. CSE and ISE graduates typically receive offers in the ₹3–5 LPA range from service companies, with higher packages achievable through specialised skill development in full-stack development, data science or cloud computing.
