About MEI Polytechnic Bangalore
MEI Polytechnic (M.E.I. Polytechnic) was established in 1958 by the Mysore Technical Education Society (MTES) — making it one of Karnataka's oldest private aided polytechnic colleges. The institution is located at 4th Block, Rajajinagar, Bangalore — approximately 5 acres in a prime urban location, 2.8 km from KSR Bengaluru City Junction Railway Station. The campus's position in Rajajinagar gives students direct proximity to Peenya Industrial Estate, one of Asia's largest industrial hubs, with 6,000+ manufacturing units engaged in electronics, machine tools, garments, and engineering products. MEI Polytechnic is affiliated to the Directorate of Technical Education (DTE), Karnataka, and approved by AICTE New Delhi.
MEI Polytechnic offers three-year Diploma programmes in six engineering disciplines: Civil Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical and Electronics Engineering, Electronics and Communication Engineering, Computer Science and Engineering, and Electronics Instrumentation and Control Engineering. Total fees for the three-year diploma are approximately ₹40,000–₹50,000 — one of the most affordable technical education options in urban Bangalore. Admission is merit-based on SSLC/10th marks through centralised DTE Karnataka counselling. No entrance exam is required. Lateral entry is available for ITI certificate holders.
The campus infrastructure includes specialised technical workshops, modern computer labs, a library with over 20,000 volumes, auditorium, sports facilities, gym, cafeteria, and medical facilities. MEI Polytechnic's location near Peenya Industrial Estate is a genuine placement advantage — students complete industrial visits and internships at Peenya's manufacturing units, and the placement cell channels diploma graduates into entry-level technician and operator roles in the area. Diploma graduates from MEI can pursue lateral entry into BE programmes at VTU-affiliated engineering colleges. Karnataka government scholarship schemes (SSP, post-matric) cover fees for eligible students from reserved categories.
