About Manipal Institute of Technology
Manipal Institute of Technology (MIT) is one of India's most prominent private engineering institutions, located in Manipal, Udupi district, Karnataka. Established in 1957 as Karnataka's first private engineering college, MIT is a constituent institution of Manipal Academy of Higher Education (MAHE) — a deemed-to-be university with Institution of Eminence status awarded by the Government of India in 2018.
MIT Manipal admits students through MET (Manipal Entrance Test) conducted by MAHE. It does not participate in KCET or COMEDK counselling. JEE Mains score is considered alongside MET for certain admissions. The institute offers BTech, MTech, PhD and dual degree programmes across 19 engineering and technology disciplines.

Admission Process — MIT Manipal
MIT Manipal's primary admission route is MET (Manipal Entrance Test), conducted online by MAHE. MET tests Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics at Class 12 level. It is conducted in multiple windows across India. JEE Mains scores are also considered — students with JEE Mains percentile above a threshold may be considered alongside MET scores. SAT scores are accepted for NRI and international students.
MIT Manipal does NOT participate in KCET. Karnataka students who want MIT Manipal must appear for MET or JEE Mains and apply separately through MAHE's admission portal at manipal.edu.
Fee Structure
MIT Manipal fees are significantly higher than VTU-affiliated Karnataka government and private aided colleges. As a deemed university, MIT sets its own fee structure independent of Karnataka government fee fixation. Annual BTech fees vary by programme — CSE, AI/ML and Data Science programmes carry higher fees than traditional engineering branches.
