IIIT-B's industry partners include Infosys, Wipro, Cisco, Huawei, Qualcomm and ABB — who fund research chairs, sponsored research and student placement programmes directly at the institute.
IIIT-B has produced a significant number of technology startup founders and is associated with the Bangalore startup ecosystem through its research commercialisation and incubation work. Alumni from IIIT-B hold senior technical positions at Google, Microsoft, Amazon, Flipkart and major global technology companies.
Electronic City Location
IIIT-B's Electronic City campus sits at the heart of Bangalore's IT hub, surrounded by Infosys, Wipro, HCL, TCS and hundreds of technology companies. This proximity enables live industry collaboration, joint research projects and direct recruitment pipelines that institutions in other locations cannot replicate. IIIT-B students can attend Electronic City company events, hackathons and technical lectures within minutes of campus.
GATE for IIIT-B MTech
IIIT-B's MTech and integrated programmes are sought after by GATE qualifiers aiming for a research-oriented postgraduate degree in Computer Science in Bangalore. The GATE score required for IIIT-B MTech in Computer Science is among the most competitive in Karnataka. GATE-qualified students receive the AICTE stipend of ₹12,400 per month, making IIIT-B MTech financially viable alongside the premium quality of research output.
Career Scope
IIIT-B BTech and MTech graduates are recruited by Bangalore's product and research companies including Google, Microsoft, Oracle, Samsung R&D, Intel and NetApp alongside IT service leaders. Placement packages at IIIT-B consistently reflect the research and product company focus, with median CTCs significantly above Karnataka's general engineering college average. PhD graduates pursue faculty positions, research lab careers and deep technology startup ventures with the IIIT-B network as foundation.
