Admission — KCET with Article 371(J)
GEC Yadgir is a Category 1 government college. All seats through KCET with full Karnataka reservation policy. Article 371(J) reserves a significant proportion of seats for Yadgir district students, making GEC Yadgir the most accessible engineering education pathway for students from this historically underdeveloped district. No COMEDK or management quota applies.
Yadgir — Karnataka's Newest District
Yadgir was carved out of Gulbarga (Kalaburagi) district in 2010 and is one of Karnataka's youngest and most underdeveloped districts by development indices. The district lies on the Karnataka-Telangana border along the Krishna river. The Narayanapur Dam on the Krishna river (Upper Krishna Project) is within Yadgir district, creating irrigation infrastructure that has transformed agriculture across Yadgir and Raichur districts. For Civil Engineering graduates, the ongoing UKP canal expansion and maintenance projects in Yadgir district provide direct local employment in one of Karnataka's largest irrigation systems.
The Kalyana Karnataka Regional Development Board actively invests in Yadgir's infrastructure, creating construction and civil engineering employment for graduates who want to work in their home district rather than relocate.

Career Scope
GEC Yadgir graduates pursue government sector roles through GATE, KPSC Engineering Services and KPTCL for EEE graduates. Civil Engineering graduates target irrigation department roles managing UKP canal infrastructure, PWD projects in Yadgir district and the Shorapur-Yadgir highway development corridor. CSE and ISE graduates access Hyderabad IT employment (155 km) and Kalaburagi (55 km) through VTU placement drives. The Article 371(J) provisions support local employment preference in Yadgir district's expanding public sector.
