Why 1957 Matters
67 years of alumni means GCP Bangalore graduates are at the top of Karnataka's pharmaceutical, regulatory, and clinical pharmacy ecosystem. The Drug Controller General of India (DCGI) offices, CDSCO South Zone, and Karnataka State Pharmacy Council all have GCP alumni in senior positions. For students targeting drug regulatory careers, government pharmaceutical agencies, or senior hospital pharmacy roles, the GCP alumni network is one of the strongest in south India for pharmacy specifically.
Pharm.D at GCP — Why It's Rare
GCP Bangalore is one of very few government colleges in Karnataka to offer Pharm.D. The programme requires hospital tie-ups for clinical hours — GCP's Mission Road location puts it adjacent to Victoria Hospital, Bowring and Lady Curzon Hospital, and Kidwai Memorial Institute of Oncology. Clinical pharmacy training at government tertiary care hospitals gives students exposure to public health pharmacy practice and drug policy that private hospital training doesn't replicate.
