About BMS School of Architecture
BMS School of Architecture (BMSSA) is a private architecture college located in Bull Temple Road, Basavanagudi, Bangalore, Karnataka. Approved by the Council of Architecture (COA) and affiliated to Visvesvaraya Technological University (VTU), BMSSA is managed by the BMS Educational Trust — the same trust that manages BMS College of Engineering (BMSCE), one of Karnataka's most prestigious engineering institutions. BMSSA's location in Basavanagudi, South Bangalore, combined with the BMS institutional legacy, makes it one of Bangalore's well-regarded architecture programmes.
Admission is through NATA (National Aptitude Test in Architecture) and JEE Paper 2. Architecture does not participate in the standard KCET engineering admission process. Visit nata.in for NATA registration and exam details.

BMS Educational Trust Legacy
BMS College of Engineering (BMSCE), founded in 1946, is consistently ranked among Karnataka's top five private engineering colleges and holds NAAC A++ accreditation. The BMS Educational Trust's seven decades of academic commitment in Bangalore gives BMSSA students the BMS brand recognition that Karnataka architecture firms, real estate developers and government design departments associate with quality technical education.
The BMS campus in Basavanagudi provides BMSSA students with access to BMSCE's library, sports facilities and the broader BMS institutional culture. The Basavanagudi location in South Bangalore, close to Jayanagar, JP Nagar and BTM Layout, places the college within easy reach of central Bangalore for internship access at architecture firms across the city.
Basavanagudi — South Bangalore's Heritage Core
Basavanagudi is one of Bangalore's oldest and most architecturally distinct neighbourhoods, home to the Bull Temple (Dodda Basavana Gudi), Pete area heritage buildings, Gandhi Bazaar and significant British-era residential architecture. Living and studying in Basavanagudi gives architecture students daily exposure to multiple architectural eras in a single neighbourhood — from Dravidian temple architecture to British colonial civic buildings to mid-century modern residences. This heritage urban environment is itself an architectural field study.
Bangalore Architecture Market
Bangalore's construction activity drives constant demand for architecture professionals. IT parks, Metro rail expansions, residential high-rises, airport city development and heritage conservation all require licensed architects. With over 500 registered architecture firms in Bangalore, BMSSA graduates enter the most active architecture employment market in Karnataka. BMSSA's Basavanagudi campus connects students to South Bangalore's established architectural practices and the broader Bangalore design community.

Career Scope
BMSSA BArch graduates register as licensed architects after mandatory internship under the Council of Architecture. Bangalore's architecture firms, BBMP design departments, BMRCL, real estate developers and private construction companies actively recruit from established architecture colleges. The BMS alumni network across South Bangalore's corporate and professional community provides career referral pathways that extend BMSSA graduates' employment access well beyond the formal placement process.
