What is UNI-GAUGE?
UNI-GAUGE — formerly known as ERA UNI-GAUGE — is a single common entrance test accepted by multiple private universities for undergraduate admission to engineering (B.Tech), architecture, management and other programmes. The test is conducted by ERA Foundation, a Bangalore-based education assessment body.
Unlike KCET (which is for Karnataka government and aided colleges) or COMEDK (which covers specific private Karnataka colleges), UNI-GAUGE is accepted by a network of private universities that have individually partnered with ERA Foundation. The list of participating institutions changes annually.

Key difference from KCET/COMEDK: UNI-GAUGE is a score, not a centralised counselling system. Each participating university has its own admission process. Scoring well in UNI-GAUGE opens doors but you must apply separately to each university.
Preparation Strategy
Overlap with JEE and KCET
UNI-GAUGE tests Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics at Class 12 level. Students preparing for KCET or JEE Mains are already prepared for UNI-GAUGE. Dedicated separate preparation is not necessary — appearing for UNI-GAUGE alongside KCET and COMEDK adds minimal burden.
Negative Marking
Unlike SRMJEEE (no negative marking), UNI-GAUGE has −1 for wrong answers. Do not guess randomly. Only attempt questions where you are reasonably confident. In the last few minutes, skip questions you have not read rather than guessing blindly.
